5 Tips For Making Your Bronze Lanterns Look Great With Your Home Decorations

Lanterns have a mysterious appeal to them. When you see a lantern, you are taken back to a time when people didn't have electricity in their homes and had to rely on fire for light. Lanterns have a certain nostalgia built into them, which is why they are a great decorating accent to use in your home. To make your bronze lanterns stand out and look great, be sure to follow the tips below.

#1 Keep The Glass Clean

If you want the lantern to look its best, you need to keep the glass clean. Even if no one touches the glass with their fingers, dust can easily and quickly build up on your lanterns over time. Dust them off on a regular basis and wash the panes. Be sure to keep them streak free, especially if you want to use candles inside of your lanterns.

#2 Fill The Lantern With Your Candle

When choosing a candle to use in your lantern, you want to fill the lantern up. You don't want to use a short little tea light. You want the light to be nice and tall, so that the light can project through the glass and patterns on the lantern and out into your home.

#3 Give Your Candles Some Height

If you only have shorter candles to use, give them some height. Put a riser, which is a tall candle stick holder, inside of your lantern, then put the small candle on top of the riser. Adding a riser will add more visual appeal to your lantern, and it will allow even a small candle to cast its light nice and wide.

#4 Group Lanterns Together

Don't leave your lantern all on its lonesome self. Lanterns look really great when they are grouped together. The lanterns do not even have to all look alike to be grouped together. You can group together different colored and size lanterns. All the candle light will play off one another and create a glowing area in your home filled with warm flickering light.

#5 Dress Up Your Lantern

You don't have to leave the lantern just like you found it. If the lantern is made of wood, you can stain the lantern a different color. You can also repaint the lantern to make it fit better with the decor of your home. Just make sure that you cover up the glass well with paper or tape so that you don't get paint on the glass. Remember, you want the glass to be as clean as possible in order to get the best effects from your candles.
